Vote Shivam for DPCS

VOTE SHIVAM FOR DPCS

Hi, I'm Shivam and I want to be your next DPCS. From being a society member, to CSP, CU and MG committee positions to Chair of Faith Societies, sitting on the Clubs Societies and Projects Board, I have immersed myself in the CSP community and would love to take this to the next level.

My Aims and Objectives

Streamline CSP Processes

  • Implement better training, optimise methods and give CSPs more autonomy to ensure faster turnaround on processes such as risk assessments and financial procedures.

  • Ensure more efficient communication between CSPs and Union.

Refine Imperial Athletes

  • Ensure Imperial Athletes is better structured and clear guidance is given to sport clubs on the support systems in place

  • Make Imperial Athletes work for each club. Not every club having to work for Imperial Athletes.

  • Reduce performance membership to make it more accessible

Improve CSP Spaces

  • Streamline room booking process by allowing CSPs to see room availability before putting in requests.

  • Develop the app by allowing CSPs to select more options for type of room, location and add notes.

Why Me?

Experience

I've held countless roles and sat on multiple boards, all of which have given me vital knowledge to help carry out the role of DPCS. These roles and board include:

  • Clubs, Societies and Projects Board

  • Exploration Board

  • Ethics and Environment Board

  • Vice-Chair (Faith) of CF Management Group

  • Hindu Society President, Secretary, Badminton Coordinator

  • RCSU Sports Officer

  • Jain Society Treasurer

Adminstrative Skills

From being secretary and treasurer I've developed a range of technical skills which have tremendously helped in the productivity of the CSPs I have been involved in. These would help both the Union and all CSPs. These include:

  • Automatic email responses with queue system to help with CSPs communicating with Union. This will hopefully develop into a fully fledged ticketing system.

  • Easily accessible guides to set up CSP websites

  • Increased support for using eActivities API to quickly access data

  • Mail merge to easily send emails to members and select groups

Dedication

My experience of CSP committees has been mostly focused within the Faith realm. However, I have and will continue to develop my understanding of all other societies and their specific needs. I have already identified key issues with the following sectors:

  • Arts and Entertainment: Limited spaces to rehearse

  • Cultural: support for such varied range of activities

  • Faith: Management Group support

  • Sport: Confusing system with IA

I love learning about each and every society at Imperial and would love a chance to get to speak to all of them. I would like to have personal drop in sessions with CSPs for me to learn about them and for them to get a chance to voice any concerns with me

CF Management Group Chair 20-21
I worked with Shivam in the Community and Faith Management Group. Shivam is a very passionate student volunteer. He proposed brilliant ideas trying to bring different clubs together. His knowledge in running clubs and societies has also helped me out a lot.
Aparna Pillai
RCSU President 20-22
I had the pleasure of working with Shivam in RCSU last year while he was RCSU’s Sports Officer. Shivam consistently showed me that he was willing to go above and beyond the expectations of his role to contribute to the success of the events and operations of RCSU. He was one of the most reliable and proactive volunteers in the team and that is exactly the kind of DPCS I believe he would be.
If voted into the role, Shivam will work very hard to ensure that the concerns of the Union’s clubs and societies will be heard and addressed.
Frank Shang
Investment Society President
Shivam already works relentlessly to improve the student experience through societies at Imperial. Through his past committee positions, he also has a thorough understanding of the key issues that clubs and societies face. In the past three years, I have known him be an incredibly friendly guy and a joy to work with in various events and activities. Due to this, I strongly believe Shivam would make an excellent Deputy President for Clubs and Societies.
Jinal Shah
Jain Society President
After working with Shivam on various committees over the years, I have seen him continuously go above and beyond what is asked of him. He is passionate and committed about his work and this will without doubt put him in gold stead to lead as DPCS.
Viren Rathod
Hindu Society President

Shivam is someone who constantly seeks to improve others experience and has provided me with unparalleled support, guidance and encouragement. He is the most affable colleague I've had the pleasure of working with. He always puts others ahead of himself. His work ethic is unmatched and ethos towards helping others admirable.
Vinay Prasad
South Asian Society President
Shivam was an excellent point of contact throughout the year for any and all of our union queries. He was able to provide direct yet thorough guidance for South Asian Society, helping us navigate through our initial incubator. Not only was he a kind and thoughtful communicator, he was incredibly knowledgeable with the union processes, allowing us to build our community properly. Doing this, whilst successfully running his own society, definitely created a better space for Imperial students this year.
Akshit Goel
Indian Society President
Shivam is one of the most dedicated and knowledgeable representative I’ve met in his years on Hindu Society committee. His ambition and ability to execute are unparalleled.
Dilan Hirani
South Asian Society President
Hindu Society Subcommittee Head 20-21
Shivam is a great person for the role of DPCS. I worked alongside him whilst on Hindu Society committee and it was a pleasure, he always had answers for my questions and always was the first to help me or point me in the right direction for anything I needed a hand on. His knowledge on societies and union processes was also great when needing any questions answered. I believe Shivam has the knowledge and drive to excel in this role, his character and commitment definitely will be a contributor to the value he can add.
